Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Virgo
The Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Virgo, arriving March 13th/14th, acts as a catalyst for refinement, health, change, and healing, if we first shed old habits, release perfectionism, and heal old wounds.
This Eclipse taking place in the South Node highlights what in our daily lives we must release, let go of, and say goodbye to. This is also the first Eclipse to take place in Virgo since 2016, resurfacing themes we may have experienced between 2015 - 2017, or potentially farther back between 2006 - 2008, which was the last time the South Node was in Virgo.
Now, the heart of Eclipse Season arrives with the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Virgo, a lunation that inspires us to find clarity through introspection, as we embrace the healing power of transformation and renewal.
Last September, under the New Moon in Virgo, I said the seeds we plant now will flourish into something bigger than what we could have anticipated come March 2025. But now, with Uranus in Taurus forming a harmonious trine to this Eclipse, there are too many unexpected weeds in our garden, and this Full Moon in Virgo is asking us to do some necessary spring cleaning.
The New Moon in Virgo was our moment of renewal, however, this Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Virgo is our time to hit the reset button. Virgo inspires us all to organize our lives in ways that are helpful to our mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health. However, Eclipse Seasons tend to mark a sign of the times as we face fated, impactful changes in our daily lives.
To best work with this energy, will be to let life in and embrace the changes we experience during this time. Under this Eclipse, release whatever you have outgrown, whether habits, patterns, relationships, tendencies related to perfectionism, etc; let it go.
Virgo’s witchy energy encourages us to improve our lives as much as we can by developing new, more holistically healthy habits and routines. This applies to all areas of our lives, but mainly to the House governed by Virgo in our birth chart. Whether that’s simply organizing our homes, prioritizing our health, taking care of our loved ones, helping others solve problems, being more productive, or pursuing new career opportunities - this Eclipse signifies a moment to prioritize what truly matters to us.
On September 17th, 2024, a new story began playing out in the background of our lives under the Full Moon partial Lunar Eclipse in Pisces. The preview into a new chapter of our lives, centered on the Pisces area of our chart, invited us to trust our intuition, embrace natural endings, and welcome new seasons of life.
Now, the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Virgo at 23°/24°, invites us all to rediscover and redirect our energy and attention towards matters that provide us with a sense of purpose, fulfillment, and form of creativity. This storyline, taking place on the Pisces-Virgo Axis of our birth chart, will continue to play out until the end of 2026/beginning of 2027, with 5 more Eclipses to occur in these signs after this one.
Eclipses signal that a major change is about to occur and can sometimes feel uncomfortable as they remind us that not everything is within our control. While the North Node guides us toward the future, the South Node symbolizes our past learned experiences. More specifically, the North Node guides us toward what we want to accomplish or find success in, while the South Node shows us things we must release so that we can make space for the coming changes.
This Eclipse reminds us of the importance of remaining grounded, even when facing challenging times or unplanned situations. Occurring in the South Node, offers us opportunities to release old habits and anything that no longer supports our physical, mental, and spiritual health.
Now is the time to purge and let go of negative patterns that keep us overthinking and feeling stuck, constantly pursuing perfectionism. The opposition to Saturn in Pisces highlights how we must release our need for control, avoidance of maturity, and emotional regulation.
Also, the fact that Virgo’s ruling planet, Mercury, retrogrades just a few hours after the Eclipse feels strange. This could have many different significances, like things might get worse before they get better or that there is something we’re missing that we need to observe before proceeding.
The best way to work with this energy is to pause and slow down if something feels unclear or off, reevaluate our routines and wellness practices, and make changes where needed to find more sustainability in our lives.
Also, this Lunar Eclipse is considered a Blood Moon due to the reddish hue the Moon takes on during a total or partial Lunar Eclipse. Blood Moons have long been regarded as powerful omens associated with transformation, prophecy, and deep spiritual awakenings. Across various cultures and traditions, they symbolize endings, new beginnings, and major shifts.
Their Astrological significance is that they bring unexpected, life-altering events that set us on a new path - whatever happens during a Blood Moon can feel destined, pushing us to evolve and embrace the change. They’re tied to powerful shifts in relationships, careers, and personal identity and are known to heighten our emotions, bring revelations, and signify completion regarding a chapter of our lives.
March’s Full Moon is also known as the Crow Moon or the Worm Moon.
The Crow Moon comes from Indigenous traditions, where the cawing of crows was seen as a signal that Winter was ending and Spring was near. As the snow melts, food sources become more available, and crows become more active, making their calls a sign of change and seasonal transition.
The Worm Moon derives from the observation that as the ground thaws with the arrival of Spring, worms reappear, bringing robins and other birds back to the land, symbolizing renewal and growth.
Lastly, March’s Full Moon is also known as the Sap or Sugar Moon (signifying the sap flow in maple trees), emphasizing the changing rhythm of nature as Winter fades and Spring begins to emerge.
