Venus in Aries

At exactly 3:00 am EST on February 4th, Venus will leave Pisces, her sign of exaltation, and enter driven and sensual Aries, her sign of detriment.

In Aries, Venus isn't afraid to go after what (or who) she wants, often favoring bold gestures and quick decisions over subtlety. This transit encourages authentic confidence when expressing affection, taking risks in love, and embracing individuality.

Venus in Aries makes us feel more assertive as we eagerly pursue our pleasures, encouraging more sex, passion, adventure, and impulsiveness into our lives. Now is a time for fresh starts in relationships, creative pursuits, and personal values, favoring authenticity and fearless self-expression.

Venus is the planet of love, beauty, finances, and our aspirations, in Aries, she adopts a confident and more passionate vibe. Over the next few weeks, the impulsivity of our emotions and how we choose to express them in our relationships will be amplified. We’ll use this time to regain our individuality while still investing time and energy into healthy relationships. Our primary focus during this time will be to completely revamp our romantic and financial lives.

This is because when Venus enters Aries, she begins a brand new cycle through the Zodiac, offering us the opportunity to reinvent ourselves, revive our wants, and renew our level of autonomy. In Aries, Venus is considered to be detriment, meaning she’s not the most comfortable here, however, she is extremely provocatively empowered, as she is dignified in Aries’s opposite sign, Libra.

Venus’s energy is typically very relaxed, happy, peaceful, and loving, but when in Aries, she increases her drive and determination to pursue all pleasures, with the energy from competitive Mars. This desirable allure that Venus in Aries exudes makes her highly capable of successfully chasing love and success rather than attracting, as Venus in Libra or Taurus would.

This means that as Venus transits through Aries, we’ll all feel a strong desire to pursue our objectives, especially those related to the House that Aries is in for us in our birth charts. Venus in Aries has a very different vibe than in Pisces as the energy shifts from dreamy and compassionate to bold, fiery, direct, and independent expression.

Our relationships may become more spontaneous and driven by a desire for excitement and new experiences, leading many in two directions. On the one hand, Aries lights a fire in our hearts, making us yearn for wild, passionate, lusty romance, urging many to spice up their dating or love lives.

On the other, Aries gives courageous confidence, leading many to pioneer their own way by leaving lifeless, boring, and unhealthy relationships. All 12 Signs will feel this but anyone with prominent placements in the Cardinal Signs - Aries, Libra, Cancer, Capricorn - can expect to feel this the most.

Now let’s cut to the scary part - Venus will be in Aries from February 4th - March 27th, 2025, and then again from April 30th to June 6th, 2025, because she will retrograde March 1st - April 12th. This two-part transit is unusual, occurring only because she will walk backward into Pisces until stationing direct on April 12th, and then re-enter Aries on the 30th.

I’ll be honest: Venus Retrogrades are rough and not for the faint of heart.

We can think back to the last Venus Retrograde, which was in Leo, between July - September of 2023. There, she increased the drama in our lives so much that it felt like we were living in a chaotic CW drama. Thankfully, Aries doesn’t like drama, but he also doesn’t like to waste his time either, meaning Venus Retrograde in Aries will feel energetic, fast-paced, and intense.

Before we light a match and burn the whole house down, let’s unpack the purpose of Venus Retrogrades. Venus symbolizes everything we want in life: love, money, peace, passion, and so much more. She tells us what we love in people, places, things, food, style, aesthetics, and everything in between. So when Venus stations retrograde, she’s asking us to slow down and pause for a second (usually around 40 days) and reflect on everything we’ve been pursuing related to our wants.

Her intentions aren’t to stress us out, although they may, but to offer us moments of realignment. Ensuring that everything we’ve been pursuing is meant for us means us well, and adds to our lives. Because if not, Aries won’t waste any time letting things go and moving on.

Venus Retrograde in Aries will offer us moments to regain our confidence in our independence, by bringing us opportunities to improve the paths we’re on or carve a new way forward. Whether that’s relationships, marriages, jobs, careers, studies, or anything else we’re actively pursuing.

This is not to encourage us all to ditch the relationships or jobs we’re in; it’s to test the foundation of what we have and what we’re building. Healthy relationships will grow stronger during this time; unhealthy relationships, or those not meant to be our forever love, will burn away during this time. The same goes for career paths and areas in which we spend our hard-earned time, energy, and resources; what’s meant for us will strengthen, bringing us confidence, what’s not will simply burn away.

During this transit, both Venus's direct and retrograde, themes of self-love, romance, personal identity, confidence in pursuing success, and autonomy will come to the forefront. We may find ourselves revisiting past relationships, confronting unresolved feelings, or questioning the dynamics of current connections, particularly around issues of independence versus partnership.

Impulsive decisions made in the past regarding love or finances might resurface, offering an opportunity for course correction or validation of our earlier convictions. This retrograde can also stir deep questions about how we assert ourselves and whether our desires truly align with our authentic selves. Overall, Venus Retrograde is a time of reflection, reassessment, and reevaluation.

For now, even though Venus is shadowed (meaning she’s walking everywhere she plans on retracing her steps come March), we should all try our best to enjoy the fiery passion of her time in Aries and remain observant as possible. We should take note of the themes, energy, and situations we encounter throughout the month of February, as we’ll revisit almost all of it during the month of March.

Allow the beauty of Venus direct in Aries, retrograde in Aries, and direct again to tell the story of positive change in the Aries-ruled House of our birth chart. Come April/May, we’ll have gained profound clarity, confidence, courage, and empowerment.
