Full Moon in Leo
At 9:00 am EST on February 12th, the Aquarius Sun shines a bright light onto the Full Moon in Leo asking us all to begin pursuing our passions with confidence.
Leo’s vibrant, fiery energy encourages us to embrace our desire for self-expression, recognition, and authenticity and begin leading with our hearts. Now is the perfect time for us to release any fears of being judged, step into our power, and express ourselves boldly without holding back.
For many, this time will be about stepping into the spotlight and taking control of situations that need our leadership. However, arriving just two days before the holiday of love and romance - Valentine’s Day - promises to make this time eventful and dramatic in very radiant ways.
In the Northern Hemisphere, February’s Full Moon usually coincides with the heaviest snowfall of the year, as the snow blankets the ground with a layer of blinding white, hence the name Snow Moon.
It’s here, in the heart of Winter, when we must create our warmth, igniting our creativity, radiating love and compassion even when the external world feels dormant. While Winter urges stillness and reflection, the Full Moon in Leo arrives like a roaring fire cutting through the chill, acting as a cosmic reminder that even in the winter’s silence, our inner light burns brightly.
The Snow Moon teaches us that no matter how quiet or challenging life becomes, our spirit has the power to radiate warmth, hope, and vitality if we tap into Leo’s fearless heart-centered authenticity and shine despite the cold, both literally and metaphorically.
Last year, on August 4th, under the New Moon in Leo, we started a brand new chapter in the Leo-ruled area of our birth chart. It was then that I said we could think of that New Moon as a brand new season of our favorite TV Show.
Now, on February 12th, our season is coming to an end, and we have a 5-month off-season to do as we please. Throughout the coming months, we’ll crave a sense of passion, romance, success, creativity, and acknowledgment in the House that Leo is in for us.
After a dramatic season of brave, courageous, fierce, prideful, and authentic self-expression, we now have the opportunity to become the main character of our lives as we put ourselves and our passions first.
In pure Leo fashion, this Full Moon will be a showstopper. Not only will the Leo Moon square Uranus in Taurus, but she will also oppose Mercury and Pluto in Aquarius and trine Venus and Chiron in Aries.
However, the strongest of the aspects made by this Full Moon are the square to Uranus and opposition to Mercury, so let’s unpack those first. The tension between the Leo Full Moon and Uranus in Taurus creates unpredictable, electric energy as Uranus invites sudden changes into our lives, pushing us out of our comfort zones and challenging any rigidity around our identities or creative expressions.
This square can trigger emotional outbursts and breakthroughs that encourage us to break free from old patterns or situations and embrace authenticity.
The Full Moon’s exact opposition to Mercury in Aquarius highlights a tug-of-war between heart and mind. While Leo seeks heartfelt, authentic expression, Mercury in Aquarius prioritizes detached, objective thinking, making their opposition an opportunity for us to find a balance between speaking from the heart and thinking critically.
This dynamic may bring communication challenges, misunderstandings, or conflicts between personal feelings and collective ideals as we try to strike that balance between our emotions and logic. Although not an exact opposition, the Full Moon shines a light on the darkest realms of Pluto, helping to surface any hidden truths and deep-seated fears, encouraging us to confront what we’ve been suppressing.
This aspect asks us to release emotional baggage and step into our power with courage and authenticity.
Now, on to the lighter aspects that offer some relief and much-needed healing.
The Full Moon will form two simultaneous trines to Venus and Chiron in Aries, supporting self-love, courage in relationships, and emotional vulnerability. Chiron’s influence suggests that embracing our wounds and insecurities can lead to profound growth and relief from current obstacles that we find triggering.
We can ask ourselves: What outdated identities, fears, or relationships are we ready to release?
The trine to Venus in Aries encourages us to act with passion, assertiveness, and authenticity in love, creative, and financial pursuits. This Full Moon in Leo is a cosmic call to embrace the courage of Leo, honor our individuality, and confidently navigate emotional turbulence and unexpected changes.
